Brian May is best known as the lead guitarist with the wall of Vox AC30’s giving a distinctive tone, who plays for the legendary UK rock band Queen. He is also a mild-mannered Astrophysicist by day as well as a Rock God by night!
All Queen members are also University graduates, but Brian is also a Sir and a CBE to boot, thus recognized by the British establishment.
He built his own guitar and now manufactures and sells them under the BMG brand (for Brian May Guitars, Natch!).
For amplification he uses not just one but a stack of Vox AC30's.
Brian is married to Anita Dobson (Angie from Eastenders) and is a well-known Badger Botherer (he campaigns for them).
With his distinctive guitar sound and innovative approach to the instrument, May has created some of the most iconic guitar solos in rock history. His virtuosic playing style and unique tone have earned him a place among the greatest guitarists of all time, influencing generations of musicians with his groundbreaking work.
The magazine Rolling Stone has him all time number 1 guitar player but what do they know?
Of his playing Brian says…
I really thought I was pretty good before I saw Hendrix, and then I thought Yeah, not so good
