The Sex Pistols were formed in London by manager Malcolm McLaren, featuring Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) on vocals, Steve Jones on guitar, Paul Cook on drums, and Glen Matlock on bass.
1976
First Gig - Played their first gig at Saint Martin's School of Art. Their confrontational performances quickly garnered attention.
"Anarchy in the UK" - Released their debut single "Anarchy in the UK” which became an anthem of the punk movement.
1977
Glen Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious (John Simon Ritchie) due to creative differences.
"God Save the Queen" - Released the controversial single "God Save the Queen" during Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee. The song was banned by the BBC but reached number two on the UK Singles Chart.
"Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" - Released their only studio album, which became a defining record of punk rock.

Sid Vicious died of a heroin overdose, marking a tragic end to his brief and turbulent career.
