My ultimate 80's dance groove. It's authentic because it was recorded back then on analog equipment and digitally remastered 2016. Real horns, real musicians. That's why it's so good!
Back then I was a huge Earth Wind and Fire fan (shocker!)
This track was my first, and last, independent production. It would have been 1980 something and I had given up on a music career. I had a 'proper job' was earning well and had disposable income so I funded this project.
It was recorded across several studios all over London and the home counties (Jacob's studio in an old manor house in Surrey).
As I recount elsewhere I gave up music for 20 years until I discovered Cubase in 2010
The musicians were all really good...
I got the 2" tapes digitised at the CopyRoom near Wormwood Scrubs. Just in time it turned out, they were disintegrating, the magnetic metal falling off like dust!
This converted the 24 track data to analog files allowing me to remix it with a more modern drum track quite recently, resulting in what you hear now.
I kept the horns Luke Tunney laid down, real horns just beat Session Horns VST hands down. In fact I still think this has a great vibe as authentic 80's disco - because that is what it is!
Yes, I like that new artists like Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson are keeping that groove alive by trying to recreate it but they weren't even born back then!
