The Arctic Monkeys are a ‘Marmite Band’. Depending on your age, you either love them or hate them but you can’t deny their success, and that was down in no small part to Alex Turner. He is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter in one of the most successful indie rock bands of the 21st century.
I admit it, I look at Indie bands and see the same unkempt introvert looking down at his trainers, strumming the same old G minor chord! Even I must admit though that the Alex took that ‘amateur’ vibe to the next level in a very entertaining fashion.
With his introspective lyrics and distinctive vocal delivery, Turner helped shape the band's sound, earning them critical acclaim and commercial success. Hits like "Do I Wanna Know?" and "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" solidified the Arctic Monkeys' status as one of the most important Indie bands of their generation, with Turner's songwriting prowess and onstage charisma earning him a devoted following.
Alex does have a verbose line of patter that is engaging though…
That rock ‘n’ roll, eh? That rock’n’roll, it just won’t go away. It might hibernate from time to time, sink back into the swamp. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists demands that acquiesce to some of its rules. But it’s always waiting there, just around the corner
He added.
Ready to make its way back through the sludge and smash through the glass ceiling, looking better than ever. Yeah, that rock’n’roll, it seems like it’s faded away sometimes, but it will never die. And there’s nothing you can do about it.
