Rage Against the Machine (RATM) is an American rock band known for its revolutionary musical style and politically charged lyrics. Formed in Los Angeles in 1991, the band consists of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk. Combining elements of hip hop, punk rock, and funk with heavy metal, RATM has been a powerful voice against social injustice, corporate greed, and governmental oppression. 1991: Rage Against the Machine was formed in Los Angeles, California. The band quickly garnered attention with their energetic live performances and provocative lyrics.
1992: Released their self-titled debut album, "Rage Against the Machine," featuring hits like "Killing in the Name," "Bombtrack," and "Bullet in the Head." The album was a critical and commercial success, going triple platinum.
1996: Released their second studio album, "Evil Empire," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album included popular tracks such as "Bulls on Parade" and "People of the Sun."
1999: Their third studio album, "The Battle of Los Angeles," was released and received widespread acclaim. Songs like "Guerrilla Radio" and "Sleep Now in the Fire" became anthems for the band's message.
2000: Political Activism. The band performed at the Democratic National Convention in protest, leading to a clash with police and increased media coverage of their activism.
2001: Breakup - Zack de la Rocha announced his departure from the band, citing creative differences. The remaining members formed Audioslave with former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.
2007: Reunion - Rage Against the Machine reunited for a series of performances, including a headline slot at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
2010: Performed a free concert in London’s Finsbury Park to celebrate their successful campaign to get "Killing in the Name" to the number one spot in the UK Christmas charts.
